Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and NetSmiths Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 17311406, registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU). They cover your use of the Subception apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and of this website. By using Subception you accept them.
The app
Subception is a subscription tracker for iPhone, iPad and Mac. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it on the Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. We keep all intellectual property rights in the app itself.
Pricing and purchases
Subception is free to use for up to 5 subscriptions, together with renewal reminders, widgets, Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, per-subscription currency conversion and full data export, import and backup. Export, import and backup are never paid features; an import fills a free library up to its 5-subscription limit.
The optional unlock is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase with Family Sharing enabled. It is not a subscription: nothing recurs and there is nothing to cancel. The app offers one unlock at a time.
- Subception Founder — the current offer: a one-time £19.99, available until 31 December 2026. It includes everything in Subception Pro, permanently, plus an exclusive Founder app icon and in-app badge. After that date the Founder offer is withdrawn from sale; anyone who already bought it keeps it and its benefits forever.
- Subception Pro — the standard unlock at a one-time £34.99, offered once the Founder window closes. It unlocks unlimited subscriptions and the full Pro feature set.
Your unlock is derived from your ownership of the in-app purchase, never from a purchase date, so it survives restoring, reinstalling and moving to a new device. Prices are shown here in pounds sterling; the App Store charges in your own currency at Apple's tier for your storefront, and prices may change for future purchasers.
Payments and refunds
All purchases are made through, processed by and billed by Apple under the App Store Terms of Service. We never receive your payment details. Refunds are therefore handled by Apple — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something isn't working as described, please email us first; we would much rather fix it. None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
Your content
The subscriptions, prices, dates, notes and categories you enter are yours. We claim no ownership over them and, because they never reach any server of ours, we have no access to them and cannot recover them for you. Keeping your own backups — the app exports them free, in CSV or JSON — is worth doing.
Exchange rates are indicative, and this is not financial advice
Where Subception converts between currencies it uses the European Central Bank's public daily reference rates. Those rates are published for information; they are not transaction rates, and they will not match what your card issuer charges you. Every figure in the app — totals, projections, price-rise analytics and realized savings — is an aid to your own record-keeping. Subception is not a bank, does not connect to your accounts, and nothing in it constitutes financial, accounting, tax or investment advice. Please don't rely on it as the sole basis for a financial decision.
Acceptable use
Please don't attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, resell, rent out or redistribute the app, circumvent its purchase checks, or use it in ways that break the law or the App Store guidelines.
Availability and changes
We develop Subception actively and may add, change or remove features between releases. We aim not to remove anything you have paid for. Features that depend on Apple's own services — iCloud sync, notifications, widgets, Shortcuts — depend on those services working and on your device meeting the minimum requirements (iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 and later).
Warranty and liability
Subception is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, and loss of profit or savings arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or its support. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the "last updated" date above changes with them.
