No subscription to track your subscriptions.

Subception tells you what your subscriptions actually cost you — and it doesn't charge you a subscription to do it. One payment, no account, and no servers of ours in the middle.

What it does

Add what you pay for. Get something you can act on.

Streaming, software, the gym, storage, the lot. Subception turns the pile into a number you recognise — and tells you when it moves.

Monthly and yearly totals, at a glance

One honest number for what you're spending, and what that adds up to over a year. Every billing cycle is normalised, so a quarterly plan and an annual one sit in the same total.

Nothing bills you by surprise

See what renews this week, and get a reminder before it does. Free trials get a decision before they convert — Subception asks whether you kept it, rather than quietly counting it as active.

The awkward cases, handled properly

Free trials, annual plans, quarterly billing, custom cycles, paused subscriptions and prices in other currencies. The messy ones are the reason a spreadsheet stops working.

Widgets, Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight

Monthly spend and upcoming renewals on your Home Screen, and everything reachable by voice, Shortcut or search. All of it in the free tier — none of it behind a paywall.

Your data comes out as easily as it went in

CSV and JSON export, import and full backup — never paid features. Not a trial, not something we reserve the right to move later. A free library holds 5 subscriptions, so an import fills up to that limit — but your data always comes out whole.

A real Mac app, not a stretched phone screen

A menu-bar extra, a proper sidebar and full keyboard support on the Mac. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac — buy it once and it's yours on all three.

The insights engine

Most trackers stop at a list. Subception keeps going.

Knowing what you pay is the easy half. The useful half is knowing what changed — what crept up, what you actually stopped paying for, and which card is quietly doing the damage.

Subception on the Mac showing the insights screen: spending charts with category and payment-method breakdowns.

Insights on the Mac — charts, category and payment breakdowns

Price rises Tracked, not guessed Every price change is recorded with its effective date, so a rise is a fact with a history rather than a vague feeling.
Realized savings What you stopped paying Cancelling accrues real savings from the price you were on — counted daily, not claimed up front.
Per-account analytics What each card costs Break spending down by payment method and find the account you'd forgotten was doing the work.

Renewal calendar

A month grid with day and month totals — in the app, and exported to your own calendar.

Multi-stage reminders

Up to four alerts per subscription, with per-category defaults.

Mixed-currency analytics

Totals across differently-priced subscriptions, converted before summing — and the charts and breakdowns built on them.

Smart cards

Plain-language summaries of what actually changed since last month.

Themes & icons

Alternate app icons and themes, because it's your Home Screen.

One app, three platforms

Buy it once. It's yours on every screen you own.

Both are one-time, non-consumable purchases with Family Sharing — never a subscription, nothing to cancel. Prices shown in GBP; the App Store shows your own currency.

Privacy, plainly

A finance app that never sees your finances.

Subception collects nothing. No analytics SDK, no advertising, no third-party frameworks and no server of ours anywhere. Your subscriptions are always saved on your device — even when iCloud is unavailable — and sync only through your own private iCloud. Settings shows exactly where your data is stored and when iCloud last moved a change.

The only thing the app ever fetches is the European Central Bank's public exchange-rate feed — anonymously, without a key, so multi-currency figures stay current. That's the whole list.

No account

Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to, nothing to leak.

No tracking

No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no profiling. Declared "Data Not Collected".

Your iCloud, not ours

Sync moves device to device through your own Apple Account. We can't read it.

Take it with you

Export and backup are free forever, so leaving is always an option.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Is Subception itself a subscription?
No — that's rather the point. It's free to use, and the unlock is a one-time purchase that never renews and that you never have to cancel. Family Sharing is enabled, so one purchase covers your family group.
What's actually free?
Up to 5 subscriptions, renewal reminders, Home Screen widgets, Siri and Shortcuts, Spotlight, per-subscription currency conversion, and full CSV/JSON export, import and backup. Export, import and backup are never paid features — though a free library still holds 5 subscriptions, so an import fills up to that limit.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. Subception has no bank integration and asks for no credentials. You add what you pay for yourself, which is also why it can track things a bank feed can't label properly. It runs entirely on your own devices.
How does syncing work across my devices?
Through your own private iCloud, using Apple's CloudKit private database — device to device under your own Apple Account. We operate no servers and never receive a copy. See the privacy policy.
Which devices do I need?
iPhone, iPad or Mac running iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 and later. One purchase covers all three.
Can I get my data out?
Any time, in CSV or JSON, free forever. JSON is a lossless backup you can import again later. More in support.
